Important information regarding obsolete Omron and Yaskawa Sigma 2 servo drives and motors

February 17th, 2016 by Goodwin Electronics

Following the successful introduction of new products, Yaskawa has scaled down the manufacturing of the old design Sigma 2 servo motors and drives which was sold as Omron and Yaskawa brands. The Sigma 2 range will continue to be supported for at least 8 years but manufacturing batch runs will be infrequent and stocks will not generally be held. The lead times and prices on these products have already significantly increased as demand has declined in favour of Yaskawa’s  Sigma 5 and the all new Sigma 7 products.

What should you do?
If you use Sigma 2 drives and motors we would strongly recommend that you discuss your requirement with us and we will support you through an upgrade process.
