Yaskawa
Yaskawa are the world’s largest AC inverter drive manufacturer, a position they have achieved due to their superb product quality, reliability and continuous technological developments. Yaskawa’s Servo Systems have for years set the benchmark for AC servo motor performance, this is aided with a feature rich online auto-tuning tool that includes automatic motor recognition. As well as inverters and servo systems Yaskawa’s range also includes standalone and rack based motion controllers supporting various communication networks optimised for motion applications using servos and inverters.
Goodwin Electronics has been partnered with Yaskawa for over 20 years and during that time we have learnt the ins and outs of all of their products and have used many of their inverter, servo, and motion controller products on a wide variety of projects.
GA700 – An outstanding new flagship inverter with performance that is superior to the A1000 and with many exciting new features including improved motor control and improved (up to 6%) efficiency with reduced panel size compared to A1000.
GA700 Range available from:
- 0.55kW to 630kW 400v 3 phase input.
- 0.55kW to 110kW 200v 3 phase input.
- Not available in 200V single phase.
Control methods include V/f and vector control with (Closed Loop Vector) and without an encoder (Open Loop Vector), GA700 includes 4 relay outputs, 8 digital inputs, 3 analogue inputs, 2 analogue outputs, pulse train output, RS485 comms and safe disable input as standard.
GA500 – High quality microdrive inverter with performance that is superior to the V1000 and with new features and same compact footprint as V1000 for reduced panel size and side by side mounting.
GA500 Range available from:
- 0.1kW to 30kW 400V 3 phase input.
- 0.1kW to 4kW 200V single phase input.
- 0.1kW to 22kW 200V 3 phase input.
Both GA500 and GA700 features integrated in the drives as standard include EMC filters, braking transistors, PLC functionality with DriveWorks EZ, Safe Torque Off circuit rated SIL3/PLe and a 24Vdc 150mA supply for powering sensors.
GA500 and GA700 can support networks EtherNet/IP, Modbus, EtherCAT, Ethernet Powerlink, ProfiNet, ProfiBus, CAN Open, DeviceNet, CC-Link, Mechatrolink and Memobus. Up to 5 drives can be controlled through one network option card.
Sigma-7 products set a new industry standard in servo capability, with features that advance Yaskawa’s reputation for redefining the possibilities in motion automation. Improved motor efficiency reduces heat generation by 20%, 24 bit absolute encoder provides extremely precise positioning.
Sigma-7 is a complete family of servomotors and servopack amplifiers that are easily paired with Yaskawa machine controllers to create a motion automation system with the industry’s highest quality and reliability. Sigma-7 Servopacks are fully digital, servo amplifiers including either EtherCat, Mechatrolink III and Analogue/Pulse control connection. Servopack drives are available as a single motor amplifier or as a cost effective, space saving double axis amplifier.
The Sigma-7 range of servo motors includes linear motors, direct drive hollow shaft motors and standard shaft motors.
Sigma-7 servo systems range of rotary motors comprises:
- 200v from 50W to 1.5kW, available in low and medium inertia.
- 400v from 200W to 15kW, available in low and medium inertia.

- Yaskawa MP3300 – The MP3000 series is Yaskawa’s flagship standard controller providing a faster processor, a faster motion network and a large configurable rack system upto 32 axis (256 axes when using SVB-01 or SVC-01). Rack sizes of 1, 3 and 8 slots available. Mechatrolink speed as low as 125us, Ethernet Port 100Base.
- Yaskawa MP2600iec – Part of the MPiec Series, the MP2600iec single axis controller attaches to servo drive directly, as one unit. It is available for both Sigma-5 and Sigma-7 amplifiers. 1.5 Axes (Including encoder emulation output) for Single axis of motion control IEC61131-3 and PLCopen programming standards, meaning programs are developed and executed with predictable operation.
- Yaskawa MP3300iec – Up to 62 Axes The MP3300iec is the latest member of the MPiec series. Offering IEC61131-3 and PLCopen programming standards, meaning programs are developed and executed with predictable operation MECHATROLINK-III motion network 1, 3 or 8 option modules 4, 8, 20, 32 or 62 motion axes Advanced camming and gearing functions. Open standards EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP to connect to many HMI and PLC in the market.
- Yaskawa SGD7S-[xxxx]M0[xxxx]F50 – The Sigma-7 S is Single Axis Servopack Amplifier with a built-in IEC Controller for linear and rotary motors SIL 3 for STO, PL-e CAT 3 Speed frequency response: 3.1kHz Advanced Safety functions SS1, SS2, SLS Ripple compensation, vibration, suppression, etc. 200V input power with minimum motor capacity 50W to maximum motor capacity of 2kW.
- Yaskawa SGD7C – The Sigma-7 C is Dual Axis Servopack Amplifier with a built-in IEC Controller. It supports a broad range of Interface options and offers a comprehensive power range. It also offers the safety features, high performance and high accuracy the Sigma-7 Series is well known for. With an advanced set of servo tuning algorithms it offers world class vibration suppression, ripple and friction compensation, advanced autotuning and tuning-less commissioning right out of the box.
VIPA have a huge experience in the field of PLC and distributed controls, much of this experience has been gained from working with one of the largest PLC companies in the world. Their range of controllers can all be programmed using WinPLC and/or STEP7 from Siemens and they have some very powerful and extremely fast products.
- 300S – The 300S, powered by SPEED7 makes this system one of the fastest and most efficient, µC based systems worldwide, programmable with WinPLC7 and/or STEP7 from Siemens. This system is especially suitable for cost sensitive applications and nearly every demanding application with its high-speed performance, the scalable memory and the outstanding communication possibilities.
- 200V – The 200V modular control system is programmable with WinPLC7 and/or STEP7 from Siemens. Limited availability of modules and options, please contact Goodwin for further details.
- MicroPLC – The MICRO PLC is a modular automation system for assembly on a 35mm mounting rail. By means of periphery modules this system may be adapted matching to your automation tasks. It is possible to expand your CPU by appropriate interfaces. The wiring complexity is low because the DC 24V electronic section supply is integrated to the backplane bus and this allows replacement with standing wire.
- SLIO – SLIO is the new modular and extremely compact I/O system by Yaskawa that can be combined and applied to each of the current Yaskawa Control Systems. The system is designed for decentralised automation tasks and can be adapted piecemeal into the required application.

Omron is a global leader in the field of automation with over 70 years expertise in manufacture of technologically advanced industrial automation products, which are some of the most reliable on the market.
Goodwin Electronics is a Specialist Engineering Partner of Omron and has used Omrom PLCs, HMIs, sensors and ancillary components for over 15 years.
MX2 & RX – Omron offer an impressive range of frequency inverters suitable for a vast range of applications. General-purpose inverters, ranging up to 400kW, include the RX and MX2 ranges. With a range of standard and optional I/Os Omron inverters are amongst the most widely used in Europe. Also available are dedicated feature packed inverters for variable torque applications such as pumps and fans. Other inverters are available with onboard positioning or brake control for lifts and cranes.
- CPM1A/CP1L Compact – A range of compact micro-PLC with built-in digital Inputs/Outputs and expansion possibilities the CP1L series offers the compactness of a micro-PLC with the capabilities of a modular PLC similar to the CPM1A series it replaced. Additionally some CP1L models have an embedded Ethernet port with socket services functionality to give you flexible connectivity for monitoring, operating, logging and remote access. The CP1L expansion including serial communication or analogue I/O and further expansion units in case more I/O is needed.
- CJ1M/CJ2M rack PLCs – The CJ1/CJ2 micro rack PLC is the ideal solution to be used in a wide range of machines in various application ranges from Packaging & Food to Automotive. Baumer
Baumer Electric has a full line of miniature inductive sensors that deliver superior performance in the tightest mounting applications. Nidec - Control Techniques
